potential_temperature#
- metpy.calc.potential_temperature(pressure, temperature)[source]#
Calculate the potential temperature.
Uses the Poisson equation to calculation the potential temperature given pressure and temperature.
- Parameters:
pressure (
pint.Quantity
) – Total atmospheric pressuretemperature (
pint.Quantity
) – Air temperature
- Returns:
pint.Quantity
– Potential temperature corresponding to the temperature and pressure
